After two very successful seasons exploring the themes of Into the Light and Expanding Horizons, ChoirWorks now turns its energy to the wonders that appear in so many Christmas stories.

We are privileged to collaborate with Howard Taylor and the Brisbane Excelsior Band for this special Advent concert. The brilliant sound of brass will welcome the season and accompany the voices of ChoirWorks in a programme filled with colour, celebration and musical discovery.

From the thrilling antiphonal exchanges of Andrea Gabrieli, to Shawn Kirchner’s clever weaving together of ancient carols in Behold New Joy, and the eclectic palette of musical colour found in John Rutter’s Gloria, the programme journeys through a rich variety of sounds, styles and traditions — with much more to discover along the way.

With voices and brass together, there will be moments of grandeur and intimacy, familiar sounds and unexpected delights.
