ChoirWorks and Dr Debra Shearer-Dirié took a spellbound audience for a breathtaking musical journey to the edge of the known universe and beyond. Expanding Horizons explored humanity’s enduring fascination with the cosmos, weaving together powerful contemporary choral works with insights from cutting-edge astrophysics.
Adding a unique dimension to the performance, Professor Tamara Davis, astrophysicist from the University of Queensland, guided audiences through some of the most profound discoveries of modern cosmology.
On 23 May 2026, ChoirWorks and Director of Music Dr. Debra Shearer-Dirié presented Into the Light to a very large and appreciative audience in the stunning surrounds of St John’s Cathedral.
We were joined by the Sinfonia of St Andrew’s, soprano Likarisa Brooker, tenor Elliott Beauchamp, harpist Janita Billingham, and organist Rachel Hocking.
Our thanks to everyone involved, both performers and audience, for making this a very memorable event.
Current and former members of ChoirWorks and Brisbane Concert Choir marked the 30th anniversary with a celebratory luncheon at Naldham House in Brisbane on 18 July 2026.

30th Anniversary Year
For over 25 years we were known as Brisbane Concert Choir. Along the way we changed our name to ChoirWorks, and this year we are celebrating the substantial milestone of performing for 30 years.
This event was very successful and enjoyable, attended by current and past members of the choir.
