Sing With Us … Now

We don’t spend much time singing outdoors, but on this evening with some Covid-19 still around, we did our warm-ups and some breathing exercises on the lawns of The Old Museum.
Our rehearsals generally take place in this beautiful heritage-listed building.
Check Us Out
We invite you to sit in at a ChoirWorks rehearsal or two if you are interested in joining the choir. Get in contact via email or simply turn up at a Tuesday evening rehearsal to try out the choir before deciding if you might like to audition. ChoirWorks is a four-part choir with each voice part – soprano, alto, tenor & bass – separating into two sections when required. We are currently recruiting for all sections.
Auditions
You are welcome to sit in or join one or two of our weekly rehearsals before deciding if you wish to audition to become a choir member. If you simply turn up at a rehearsal on a Tuesday evening at 6.30pm please ask to meet our Director of Music, Dr Debra Shearer-Dirié. Auditions are typically held immediately after rehearsals, as and when required. An audition takes about 10-15 minutes. Debra will advise what is expected of you when you set up the audition. The ability to ‘sight read’ music is not a prerequisite, although obviously useful.
For more information follow the links to our Member Handbook and Application form.
The choir aims for an establishment of around 60-70 singers, although numbers have been lower since the pandemic began. One of Australia’s leading choral music directors Debra Shearer-Dirié, seeks to create a blend of voices aimed at achieving excellence in performance. The choir rehearses weekly with a professional piano accompanist and performs in concerts with a variety of orchestral ensembles and noted soloists.
Our repertoire ranges from pure entertainment to challenging classics.
