Bach & Zelenka
ChoirWorks and director of music Dr Debra Shearer-Dirié invite you to travel back in time … for two masterpieces from the 18th century. The works are linked because Bach wrote his Cantata after the death of the Electress of Hanover, the Consort of Augustus 1 in 1727 to celebrate her life. Zelenka wrote his Requiem for her husband, Augustus 1, after his death in 1733.
